Local 947 members,
On this 19th anniversary of 9/11 we collectively pause to remember the courageous acts of our 343 brothers of the FDNY and IAFF Locals 94 and 854. The FDNY led what is likely the
largest rescue mission in the history of humanity ultimately removing and saving an estimated 20,000 civilians from the Twin Towers prior to collapse.
As we pause today let us remember the struggles of all those suffering from 9/11 cancers and respiratory diseases. An estimated 10-15 first responders and recovery workers are diagnosed with cancer every week according to Dr. Michael Crane, head of the 9/11 Health Program Clinic in New York.
For Local 947 and our members, "Never Forgetting" means more than thinking about 9/11 once a year. "Never Forgetting" means we do the work to provide tangible support and meet the needs of the family of our fallen. "Never Forgetting" means doing the work to take care of each other.
Stay safe, take care of each other, and Never Forget. -Captain Dave Coker
